NEW SYSTEM FOR DRY COLOURING PORCELAIN STONEWARE OPENED AT THE ‘ZIRCONIO’ CERAMIC INDUSTRY

A system for dry colour porcelain stoneware, better known as COLOR DRY, has just been completed at the Zirconio ceramic industry in Castellón (Spain).
The COLOR DRY system is the result of years of research and development of Manfredini & Schianchi, with the co-operation of leading colour manufacturers. COLOR DRY is a patented system for dry colouring porcelain stoneware, which will enable porcelain stoneware tile manufacturers to customise their products with today’s most popular effects (rustic, salt and pepper, glazed porcelain stoneware, to name but a few), without using a spray dryer.

The colouring system at Zirconio, installed on a Nassetti 2000 press, is of the continuous type. It can produce full-body coloured porcelain stoneware with three different colours plus a basic one or alternatively four different colours. The finished product resembles natural stone or travertine; during the glazing stage, crystals can be applied to create particular shading effects.
